Nice video!! Since blue is added to black in higher proportions to give it better "eye appeal", then I wonder what would happen if you used different blacks? I’d love to see what happens if you drop some alcohol on it, then take a pull. You might also try putting a coat of gel medium on BEFORE using the pastels. Thanks for the great video!

Oh the colors. I have a few caryon d’ache neo color crayons and I love them. I recently bought crayons and it was kind disappointing because they just don’t have the pigment load. Super fun and relaxing to watch you unbox. Thank you. 😊

I so enjoyed just listening to your voice as well as watching your videos. You have a soothing calming demeanor. And if I am not out of bounds I want to share something with you. The way you speak about rest is some thing I have been working on for myself. I get nothing at all from saying this to you. It is just some thing I have done to help my rest. There is an app called insight timer. There is an instructor on there named Jennifer Piercy. Her tutorials are about rest and sleep. You may enjoy them if you need a pocket of rest but do not have time to sleep. Be well and I hope your son has/is improved.

I'd not heard of celedon till I started watching your videos. You've inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and try playing with my paints and mixing them to see what I get. I suppose my hesitation comes from worrying that if I mix some paint, getting the same shade again would be challenging. So till now I've tended to stick to ready made bottles of paint.

You got me started with Golden titan green pale (thank you, I love it) but geez, maybe now I can mix my own! Thanks for sharing how easy it is.

I'm really enjoying watching your process, the stories of parenting, but the focus on creative wellness really speaks to me. I'm taking the term to my therapist. I've had a hell of a year, and art is the thing that is breathing life back into me. I am finding that grid journaling with a lot of collage is the ticket to keeping me upright and breathing.

You nailed it on the first go! I generally paint w/ a limited color palette - 2 or 3 colors + black and white so I love mixing colors. I once took a color class and during the semester we were only allowed to use the 3 primaries and white (no black). One exercise was to match the color in rocks that were brought into class. It was very challenging and became a game for me. Years later, I wanted to match the color of sage which is in my area. I knew it was a desaturated blue green and a bit close to your celadon color. I mixed a blue/green and added some white and got a minty B/G. Then I added the complement of red/orange and the minty green was instantly desaturated and I got my sage color. It was like magic. (I was trying to make the sage color in dyes (I was a textile artist) and because there is really no white dye it's done through dilution which is trickier.). On another note - I use the same plastic bottles w/ my Nova paints - how do you keep the tops from getting clogged? Do you rinse the lids after each painting session? I'm loving following your grid collage/painting work - the idea of working on many paintings at once is so great. I tend to work on one piece and get tight very early on. Love your work.

i'm usually happier with 3 colors; only 2 colors is not enough for me.

#4. I like the high contrast black and white near the deep clear red and the sharp, clearly defined lines playing against the desaturated blue/grey with the torn jagged edges and the messy inner of yellow/orange/cream. I like the shape of the desaturated blue piece.

thank you! love these. For junk mail, unfortunately, I think the only thing you can do is call and ask to be taken off the list. It's very time consuming :( But if someone else knows a trick, I'd love to know. I've been getting a lot of cards lately (rather than catalogs). Big cards, sometimes. They are great for making gelli print stencils!

Inspiring as always Jackie -- I'm truly an art snob when it comes to using magazine papers (someone in there insists it has to be hand-painted) and I consequently spend much more time painting papers than I do making collage -- I definitely need to cut up some magazine papers into shapes/colors and just *play* *with* *them!!!*

I would love to buy one of these! Number 60 is my favorite if you're willing to sell that one. It doesn't need to be matted. I can do that once I get it.

Hi, Jackie I just threw a val-pack in the recycle bin yesterday because I already have enough to work with for a lifetime. When I was junk journaling I had boxes of cereal boxes and junk mail. I finally realized that I would never be able to keep up with all the paper stuff that enters this household. I figured if I needed any particular thing for a project it would be here within a week. I put most of it in the recycle bin. I do sit down on a couch every morning and watch RUclips. In front of me is a large box of images for glue booking, but with no table handy it is difficult to work on a glue book here. Thanks to you I now have a small pile of index cards. Using some of those glue book images on collages will be much more lap friendly and start my day off nicely. Your suggestions were great and enjoyed watching you collage. Nancy
